The goat-headed, angel-winged icon is a depiction of the proposed satanic temple which is a bronze sculpture. The stature that stands eight and a half feet tall got unveiled in the year 2015 in Detroit. The statue also featured two youthful features that gazed at another feature that was sitting in a central position (Deron, 2018). Salem is the headquarters of this nontheistic religious and political activist group who refer their church to as the satanic temple. This paper will highlight why the satanic temple stature should get erected on the Arkansas state capitol grounds if the Ten Commandments are allowed to stay.

Encouraging benevolence as well as empathy among the Arkansas population is one of the core missions of the satanic temple (Duboic, 2018). Also, the temple seeks to get guided by the individual will as per the conscious human direction when undertaking noble pursuits, advocate for justice and practical common sense and to reject any absolute authority.

I believe that each American citizen and more so the people from Arkansas have a right to worship as well as choose the religion that they will follow. The fact that the Ten Commandments Monument was allowed to get elected on the public property but the satanic temple denied is a clear indication of how the law was biased (Eidsmoe, 2018). Just like the way the Christians are not interested in seeing the satanic temple monument is the same way the other believers also do not want to see the Ten Commandments monument.

During one of the rallies organized by the satanic temple members, Lucien Greaves who is the co-founder of the movement stated that " We have as little interest in forcing our beliefs and symbols upon you as we do in having the beliefs of others forced upon us (Ducharme, 2018)." The law should, therefore, ensure that they balance both symbols and beliefs since both individuals from the two sides have rights. Because the Ten Commandments monument is already elected, then the satanic temple monument should also get erected purposely to have fairness between the two set of believers.

The purpose of having the Baphomet sculpture elected is mainly because the law advocates for free speech, equality as well as religious liberty. The erection of the satanic monument is not in any way advocating for the replacement of the Ten Commandments or silence what the other individuals believe in but rather have liberty in the face of theocracy that is on the rise (Deron, 2018). According to the co-founder of this movement Greaves, the election of the satanic monument brings about the long needed reconciliation as well as freedom of conscience.

In conclusion, the preexistence of all monuments is the primary reason for the championing of the erection of satanic temple sculpture. The same way the Christians are enjoying their right of worship and have their symbol of the Ten Commandments erected at the state capitol, the Baphomet monument also has all the rights to get built on the public grounds. The law provides for each citizen to have equal rights and privileges and that's all we are championing for since as the members of the satanic temple movement we also need to get our symbols and beliefs out there to the members of the population. But in as much as we want to have our symbol erected, the other faiths and monuments of other believers should not feel threatened.
