Racial discrimination has long been a public issue that has continued to cause division among African Americans in the U.S. Besides, the growing shares of the public has recently suggested that a lot should be done to aim at addressing racial equality, with the view that this discrimination of African Americans is an obstacle to such efforts. Additionally, ethnic inequality is a looming issue in American society especially towards people of color. African Americans often face structural obstructions particularly concerning securing employment, quality healthcare, and education as well as proper housing. Because of racial discrimination, the system of criminal justice in America has become permeable, and its effectiveness has faced significant challenges.

The United States of America has been a country of diverse culture. Unfortunately, minority groups are often discriminated in the US ranging from comments made by racists to crimes related to violence and hate. Racism and discrimination have increasingly prevailed in the entire US, especially in the country’s conservative regions such as in the Midwest as well as the South including the rural areas and small urban centers. Cultural communities that always face discrimination are African Americans, Islamic communities and Hispanics. Since the days of the slave trade and slavery in general, America has come a long way to make significant steps regarding equality of rights based on race. However, racism is still a pressing issue in America today. Racial discrimination can be seen at times whereas it is understated more often. Besides, the system also seems to embrace this issue following the racial profiling that law enforcers and other officials in the government exhibit ( Du Bois & Marable, 2015) .

Additionally, racial discrimination has increased due to the inability of some communities to break the poverty cycle such as African Americans. Schools have also developed policies that tend to discriminate other populations in the institutions; thus, leading to a situation commonly known as the "school-to-prison pipeline." Eventually, black youths who are disadvantaged often drop out of school because of the zero-tolerance policies exhibited by these institutions. Sometimes, the schools might end up pushing these youths into the criminal justice systems where they may be imprisoned, rather than being given an opportunity to receive counseling from the school system ( Marable, 2015) .

The ideology of race runs deep in the history and culture of America. It indeed focuses on the political culture where race shapes the identity of people from a specific community. Thus, the centrality of racial discrimination in the history of America is not a surprise, and its relevance continues to prevail. Thinking through the most basic level of racism, the interpretation, naturalization, and the reproduction of inequalities occur through this lens ( Belgrave & Allison, 2018) . Well, this follows its development through a particular point in time when America was developing. On the one hand, America had national ideals that promoted equality and freedom among the people while on the other hand, the economic reality encouraged a system of slavery, which incorporated the transatlantic slave trade. The idea of racism was developed for the justification of natural inequality among the slaves. Unfortunately, the scientists and anthropologist of this time went on to prove this justification; however, their proofs have severally been invalidated over time despite the persistence of these ideologies today.

Several examples have shown through the American culture that the potentialities of individuals occur regardless of their race. Nonetheless, up until the recent cycle of elections in America, there has been a decline in explicit racial discrimination. However, putting aside the current political discourse, there is still a significant amount of implicitly unconscious biases all over the country that result into substantial consequences towards the lives of those people who face such discriminations. For instance, they have limited access to education, voting rights as well as employment. Therefore, to take care of this issue, the public should understand that attitudes toward race can be determined and people can learn from the findings. This would make people understand race for the reduction of biases thus informing the way forward for the country in general.
